Interactive Seminar on Psychology, Culture, Climate Change and Mental Health: Enhance Collaboration between Psychology Study Program of The University of Adelaide and School of Psychology of Udayana University

The purpose of this collaborative activity between Psychology Program Study Udayana University and Faculty of Psychology, The University of Adelaide is to build a strong and sustainable partnership that fosters mutual growth in the fields of education, research, and academic exchange. The students and faculties can enhance their educational experiences through cross-cultural learning, as well as encourage collaborative research and exchange program.


The psychology students and faculty of the University of Adelaide’s visit to Udayana University is part of a two-week study tour program. This study tour is designed to provide students with a meaningful experience in multicultural approaches to psychology, allowing them to explore how cultural values and practices shape mental health and well-being. 


In the two-day seminar on the UNUD campus, UoA students and UNUD students will have an interactive seminar on the topic of culture and psychology, as well as climate change. The aim of the seminar is to raise an awareness of the connection between climate change and mental health, highlighting how environmental challenges impact communities differently around the world. The academic sessions provided opportunity to Psychology Program Study Udayana University lecturers to share researches regarding to Culture, Climate Change and Mental Health. 


In day 1, Monday, July 14th 2025, Luh Made Karisma Sukmayanti Suarsa, S.Psi., M.A. and Putu Nugrahaeni Widiasavitri, S.Psi., M.Psi were presented about The Psychology Dynamic and Balinese Women. The session continued by Prof. Deborah Turnbull from The University of Adelaide, shared about Cross-cultural communication. During the session, all participants also engaged in to small group discussion to discuss and share the values and insight towards given topics. 


In day 2, Tuesday, July 15th 2025, the session started with sharing session given by Komang Rahayu Indrawati, S.Psi., M.Si, about climate change in Bali. The second speaker from The University of Adelaide, Dr. Chevaun Haseldine & Dr. Natasha van Antwerpen shared about climate change in Australia. 


Through academic sessions, cultural exchange, and site visits, students will gain a deeper understanding of global psychological perspectives and develop a greater sense of social and environmental responsibility.
